Poster design for a hypothetical conference. The “Vernacular Design” conference addresses how vernacular design is still relevant and significant in a global environment. Through a series of lectures conducted by interdisciplinary scholars, designers, artists, architects, and philosophers the conference explores how vernacular design can be better incorporated into both academic and professional architectural studios. Topics addressed include the following: What is vernacular design? How can vernacular address sustainability in design? How important are narratives in architectural design today? How are politics embedded in these narratives and architectural designs?
